Oscillococcinum is a homeopathic preparation that's typically used to relieve flu symptoms. It was created during the 1920s by the French physician Joseph Roy, who believed he had discovered a type of “oscillating” bacterium in people with the Spanish flu.

It seems to shorten flu episode and modifies flu symptoms such as headache, fever, body aches and chills.

How long should I take Oscillococcinum? If your symptoms have not improved after the first day, repeat the dosage instructions — take one dose every 6 hours, up to 3 times a day, for 2 more days. If after 3 days you show no improvement, we recommend consulting your health care professional.
